Inge Bacon, CPA, CFP(R), AEP(R) - Owner
Sara Bacon- Accountant (Inge's Daughter-in-Law)
John Bacon - Accountant (Inge's Son)
Karin Noland - Bookkeeper & Tax Preparer (Inge's Sister)
Inge's career in public accounting began in 1970, when she started working for her father, a licensed public accountant, while attending the University of Cincinnati. After graduating with a BA in Mathematics, her father took Inge on as a partner in his firm and that is where she stayed until 1979. It was a great job, and she loved working with her dad, but in 1979 Inge decided to move on---she had spent all of her summers in Door County when she was a kid and she longed to settle down there. So she threw all her belongings in her Chevy short-bed truck, bought a house in Sturgeon Bay---sight unseen---and moved up. That year, Inge Alverson Bacon CPA was born.
Starting out with only 3 clients and a calculator, Inge grew IABCPA into one of the largest public accounting firms in the county, with 12 employees serving almost 200 businesses and 500 individuals. During that time, she became interested in trusts and estate planning, which led her to earn her Certified Financial Planner designation from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado.
By 2001, her firm was grossing over $600K and she was busy! It was also when she was approached by the managing partner of Kerber, Rose & Associates to become a shareholder in the organization, which had numerous offices throughout northeast Wisconsin. Three years later, she joined Baylake Bank (now Nicolet National Bank) as Vice President of Private Banking and then became a Senior Trust Officer---which was more suited to her interests---in 2005. At that time, Inge earned her CTFA designation from Cannon Trust School at Pepperdine University in California.
Five years later, in 2010---while still working at Baylake Bank---she decided to re-open Inge Alverson Bacon CPA, providing financial planning, accounting and small business services to a select clientele alongside her sister, Karin. At the end of August, 2012, she returned to private practice full time. As business grew, her son, John, and daughter-in-law, Sara, joined the firm. And everyone still gets along!
In fact, we all love it. We find this work very rewarding, and we strive to make it rewarding for all of our clients as well!
Interested in becoming a client? We'd love to meet with you!
Here's how our client on-boarding process works:
First: shoot us an email or give us a call. We'll send you a link to our online scheduling calendar and initial meeting questionnaire. Pick the time-slot that works best for you, fill out our questionnaire, and we'll greet you here at our office at the designated time! (Don't forget to bring any requested documents with you, such as prior year tax returns or articles of organization, etc.)
Second: there is no charge or obligation for our initial meeting. We'll just get to know each other and see if we're a good fit! Because we're such a small firm---and we already work with a lot of great clients---we simply can't take on everyone we meet. To give you a heads-up: we really enjoy working with honest, well-organized, responsive and responsible clients (especially those with small businesses, or those looking for help with financial planning or trusts). Of course you'll want to use our meeting to make sure that we meet your own expectations as well!
Third: sometime shortly after our meeting, we'll let you know if we think we're a good fit and will be able to accommodate your needs. You'll receive an electronic service agreement from us confirming the services you'd like us to perform and---once it is signed---you'll have an honest, loyal, and hard-working team of professionals ready to assist you!
Our office doesn't have a reception area---and we don't employ a receptionist. Because of this, and the private nature of the work we perform for clients, we are unable to accommodate walk-ins. (Meetings are by appointment only). Clients are always welcome to stop in and drop their documents off though!
Finally: because of all the additional work we perform at year-end and during tax season, we cannot on-board new clients between December 20 and May 1. If you'd like to work with us during tax season, consider scheduling an initial meeting before December. (Our calendar fills up quickly!)
